You can buy tickets at VR ticket offices in Finland, or via their telephone booking centre +358 923 192 902. Service available in English. Payment only with American Express, Visa or Mastercard.
FIP discounted tickets may not be purchased on-board trains. A Penalty Fare and the public fare is charged if a passenger is found without a valid ticket.
FIP discounted tickets cannot be purchased from ticket vending machines.
No but on Pendolino and IC trains a compulsory supplement includes a seat reservation. This is payable with an FIP Coupon or a FIP discounted ticket.
FIP discounted tickets are not valid when travelling only in commuter trains within the HSL area, even if they are branded VR. If you have a long-distance ticket which includes travel in the commuter trains (HSL area) it is valid
Break of journey is not permitted except for changing onto connecting services.
VR is withdrawing from the FIP association on 31 December 2025.
FIP discounted tickets purchased with the FIP International Reduced Rate Card will be available until 31 December 2025
FIP coupons for VR Group will be issued during 2025 with the usual 3 month validity. Coupons requested from 1 October 2025 onwards will have an expiry date of 31 December 2025.
