Note: From January 12, 2025, onwards the railway link between Coimbra-B and Coimbra has been discontinued for the BRT line to be built. For passengers arriving by train to Coimbra-B wishing to travel to the site of the old central station, a rail replacement bus is running free of charge until the BRT line enters service. The station has a ticket office open within 24 hours prior to departure:
You can buy tickets at CP ticket offices in Portugal, on the same day of departure.
You can buy tickets up to 24 hours in advance if the train departs outside of ticket office opening hours.

The station has no ticket office, or the ticket office is closed for more than 24 hours prior to departure:
You can buy tickets on trains by notifying the train manager on the platform.

Reservations are mandatory on InterCidades, Alfa Pendular and Celta trains.
Reservations can only be done at station ticket offices or with the train manager on the platform if ticket offices are closed 24 hours prior to departure or are non-existent.

Classe Conforto in Alfa Pendular trains is inaccessible to 1st Class FIP card or coupon holders, requiring the payment of the price difference between Classe Turística and Classe Conforto to reserve a seat for FIP coupons, and full price for FIP cards. (Please check ahead of time if sales with promotional prices for Classe Conforto are available).

Holders of FIP coupons travel for free without reservation on:

  • Urbano
  • Regional
  • InterRegional

Only Urbano trains operated by CP – Comboios de Portugal accept FIP facilities.

In Lisbon, a special Viva Viagem card needs to be requested at a ticket office to access or leave the platforms of gated train stations. Most gated stations are in the Sintra and Cascais railway lines.

All other Commuter, Metro, Tram, Cable Car and Miniature Railway services don’t accept FIP facilities.

There are no online, app or telephone reservations for FIP facilities in Portugal for CP – Comboios de Portugal. Reservations in advance can be done only on ticket offices up to 24 hours prior to the departure of an Alfa Pendular or InterCidades if the train departs outside of ticket office opening hours.

For the Celta Porto-Vigo, reservations can be done as soon as tickets go on sale for this train at Renfe, from the ticket offices of Porto-Campanhã, Nine, Viana do Castelo and Valença. Renfe FIP reservation fees and conditions apply on this train (this includes a FIP coupon valid for Spain for those using coupons).

FIP facilities are not accepted for Classe Conforto on Alfa Pendular trains. However, sales for Alfa and InterCidades start two months prior to departure, with advance discounts of up to 65%, for both 1st/Conforto and 2nd/Turística classes.

Portuguese National Railway Museum

 

Any visitor arriving at Entroncamento by train is entitled to a 50% discount on the ticket for the Portuguese National Raliway Museum. The visitor can use any ticket or reservation for a train used in the three days prior, or to be used in the next three days.

Access to any of the other “Núcleos Museológicos” in Lousado, Chaves, Bragança and Arco de Baúlhe is free of charge. Macinhata do Vouga “Núcleo Museológico” has a paid ticket regardless of how the visitor arrives. Valença and Lagos are temporarily closed.
