You can buy tickets at Renfe ticket offices in Spain or France, you can also buy tickets on trains by notifying the train manager on the platform if the origin of the train is Paris, Marseille or Lyon.
Reservations are mandatory on long-distance and medium-distance trains. Access to platforms may be prevented if you do not hold a reservation. Reservations are not available online. They can only be booked at station ticket offices.
Holders of FIP coupons travel for free without reservation on:

• MD trains without reservation
As a guide, most MD trains in Catalonia are non-reservable while most of the rest are with reservation (but there can be exceptions). Before using any MD train, you should check if it is a service which requires a reservation.
On high-speed AVE, Alvia, Euromed, Intercity and Avant services FIP coupons do not grant free travel on these services. A fixed supplement must be purchased.
The mandatory seat reservation fees are:
- MD trains with reservation and AVANT trains: €4
- AVE trains: €10 in Elige option, €13 in Elige Confort option and €23,50 in Premium option.
- Alvia and Intercity trains: €6,50 in Elige option and €10 in Elige Confort option.
- Euromed trains: €6,50 in Elige option, €10 in Elige Confort option and €23,50 in Premium option.

FIP discounts are valid on Euskotren trains and trams as well as on line 3 of the Bilbao metro because it is operated by Euskotren. They are not valid in the rest of the Bilbao metro network.
FIP facilities are not accepted on bus services operated by Euskotren.
No, you must have a valid ticket before boarding a train. Some stations have automatic doors restricting access to the platforms.
Upon presentation of the FIP International Reduced Rate Card at the ticket office or customer service point, a ticket valid for 7 days will be issued. After expiration, a new ticket can be purchased. There is no limit per annum to the number of tickets which can be requested.

It is not necessary to validate the ticket on the Vitoria-Gasteiz tram, but it is necessary to do so on the Bilbao tram. The 7-day ticket should only be presented upon request. For the trip, the FIP card and a proof of identity is also required.
Yes, you can get an individual ticket at the ticket desks of both stations.
The discount card entitles you to a single entry to the Euskotren Railway Museum in the town of Azpeitia. FIP facilities are not accepted on the Railway Museum tourist train.
